TRAINING!!
That’s the key to anyone who wants to excel at their career and with hairdressing this is especially true.
As well as constantly updating our skills Mimi and I need to keep up to date with the latest and greatest because we also have the responsibility of training our emerging young talent Tom.
Killer Hair is truly blessed to have him. Besides being a hard worker, he is hungry for knowledge and we are starting to see his confidence build.
It’s important that we set Tom up to succeed in whatever we throw at him… right now he is knee deep in colour and perfecting the twist blowwave which gives a beautiful smooth finish to curly hair…a celebrity favourite.
This brings me to another point…We are currently seeing a lot of clients that are sick of their curly hair being frizzy, this weather is not helping but your best weapon is the right product and understanding that you’re always gonna have a bit of frizz/ texture but it’s best to work the curl!
Stop trying to flatten and reduce its movement and go with it……this makes curly hair a sexy statement. It’s your hair type, own it and allow it say something about who you are.
Tune in to Tabatha’s salon takeover on TV3 on Friday night ….It’s hilarious, we can hardly believe how crazy some hairdressers are.
RIP Michael Jackson

Recommendations and more recommendations!
Yesterday we had an amazing but desperate email from a client of ours who has moved to Arizona.
She has been gone for nearly a year now and just can’t find a decent hairdresser.
She was telling us how much she missed us and wished she could visit us for some Killer Hair action.
It was very sweet and she pleaded for us to recommend someone but sadly we don’t know anyone in Arizona. At Killer, because we are a boutique salon, we don’t advertise and we don’t have a big sign in the main road. We live off recommendations - it’s the only way we get clients.
But we should all be better at giving recommendations! In this time of a slower economy or any time in fact, we all should recommend cafes, mechanics etc etc.
I love being told of a great book or film, where to get a great coffee. We should recommend quality whenever we can as it’s a great way of helping each other to find the things we want when we want them. Otherwise it’s all a bit disappointing.
Anyway back to the salon. It’s university hols so all my student clients are coming in for their hairdos. Most haven’t been since Feb so it’s gonna be fun!!.
